Successful applicants must have a high school diploma and successfully complete:

  • ODJFS Medical Statement from physician
  • BCII and FBI fingerprint background check

All candidates must be able to regularly and frequently:

  • Work a flexible schedule during center operating hours
  • Lift children (up to 45 lbs.) and safely lift infants in and out of cribs
  • Stand, sit (on chairs and floor) and walk
  • Bend, stoop, twist, stretch, push and pull

Although not required, we prefer candidates with experience using Conscious Discipline in a preschool setting.

Lead Teacher 

Lead Teachers support the mission, values, goals and policies of Columbus Early Learning Centers (CELC) as leaders of the classroom teaching team. They work to promote a mutually respectful classroom environment in which children, families and staff work together toward success. They are responsible for the day-to-day operations of their classroom, providing high-quality responsive caregiving, intentional curriculum, and standards compliance; guiding and supporting Assistant Teachers and classroom volunteers; and working collaboratively with families to help each child learn and grow. They must be reliable and independent; always mindful of the image and reputation of the organization both internally and externally.

Minimum qualifications: 

  • Minimum of BA/BS in one of the following fields:
    • Early Childhood Education
    • Child & Family Community Studies
    • Child Development
    • Family Studies
    • Human Ecology
    • Psychology
  • Experience in a lead teaching role for two years (children birth-five years preferred)
  • Career Pathway Level (CPL) 3 or higher
Assistant Teacher

With guidance and direction from the Lead Teacher, they work to promote a mutually respectful classroom environment in which children, families and staff work together toward success. They are responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher in the day-to-day operations of their classroom, providing high-quality responsive caregiving, intentional curriculum, and standards compliance. In the absence of the Lead Teacher, they assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the classroom. Assistant Teachers must be reliable and independent; always mindful of the image and reputation of the organization both internally and externally.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in ECE
  • Current CDA or Ohio’s Career Pathway Level (CPL) 2
Classroom Aide

With guidance and direction from the Lead Teacher, they work to promote a mutually respectful classroom environment in which children, families and staff work together toward success. They are responsible for assisting Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers in the day-to-day operations of their classrooms, providing high-quality responsive caregiving, intentional curriculum, and standards compliance. Classroom Aides must be reliable and independent; always mindful of the image and reputation of the organization both internally and externally. We offer both full-time and part-time versions of this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
