- ODJFS Medical Statement from physician
- BCII and FBI fingerprint background check
Although not required, we prefer candidates with experience using Conscious Discipline in a preschool setting.
All candidates must be able to regularly and frequently:
- Work a flexible schedule during center operating hours
- Lift children (up to 45 lbs.) and safely lift infants in and out of cribs
- Stand, sit (on chairs and floor) and walk
- Bend, stoop, twist, stretch, push and pull

Lead Teacher
Lead Teachers support the mission, values, goals and policies of Columbus Early Learning Centers (CELC) as leaders of the classroom teaching team. They work to promote a mutually respectful classroom environment in which children, families and staff work together toward success. They are responsible for the day-to-day operations of their classroom, providing high-quality responsive caregiving, intentional curriculum, and standards compliance; guiding and supporting Assistant Teachers and classroom volunteers; and working collaboratively with families to help each child learn and grow. They must be reliable and independent; always mindful of the image and reputation of the organization both internally and externally.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of BA/BS in one of the following fields: Early Childhood Education, Child & Family Community Studies, Child Development, Family Studies, Human Ecology, Psychology
- Experience in a teaching role for two years
- Career Pathway Level (CPL) 3 or higher
- Familiarity with ODJFS licensing rules preferred
Assistant Teacher
With guidance and direction from the Lead Teacher, Assistant Teachers work to promote a mutually respectful classroom environment in which children, families and staff work together toward success. They are responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher in the day-to-day operations of their classroom, and preparing and implementing lesson plans. Assistant Teachers must be reliable and independent.
Qualifications and Experience
- Ohio’s Career Pathway Level (CPL) 2 or higher
- Previous experience in a childcare setting preferred
- Familiarity with ODJFS licensing rules preferred
Classroom Aide
With guidance and direction from the Lead Teacher, Classroom Aides work to promote a mutually respectful classroom environment in which children, families and staff work together toward success. They are responsible for assisting Lead and Assistant Teachers in the day-to-day operations of their classrooms. Classroom Aides must be reliable and independent. We offer both full-time and part-time versions of this position.
Qualifications and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in a childcare setting preferred
- Familiarity with ODJFS licensing rules preferred
