Main Street Center
at Central Community House
The largest of our four centers, we have called this location home since the summer of 2016. We enroll children ages 6 weeks through 5 years of age and work closely with families to meet each individual child’s needs. This center is partnered with Central Community House, a comprehensive, neighborhood-based community center that serves the near east and near south neighborhoods of our community.
Center Director: Melanie Wilson
Melanie has served as the Main Street Center Director since July 2017. Prior to working at CELC, Melanie worked for a local Head Start agency for seven years and ran her own childcare center for three years. Melanie knew she wanted to work with children since she completed her high school’s career center program for early childhood. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Public Agency Service from Northern Arizona University. She is also currently working toward her Master’s degree in Early Childhood with a concentration in Administration.
As the Center Director, Melanie is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, staff management, and communication with our families. Melanie enjoys leading her team of teachers in providing the highest quality of care for our children. Outside of work, Melanie enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two children, crafting, sports, and volunteering as a Girl Scout Troop Leader.
